It’s time for Twin Tiers Local News, on The Bell 1000 AM. I’m Sam Jordan reporting.

The newest members of the Chemung County Legislature, were sworn into office, on Sunday afternoon. Lawana Morse, Brent Stermer, Michael Saglibene and Jim Palmer, took their place on the county legislature. One other newcomer, Steven Pickering was not present for the event.

A ceremonial oath of office gathering took place on Friday at the Elmira City Courthouse for incoming Congressman Nick Langworthy, who will represent the 23rd District. Langworthy is slated to officially take the oath of office in Washington, DC on Tuesday. Langworthy will represent the constituents of Chemung, Steuben, Schuyler, Allegany, Cattaraugus and Chautauqua counties.

Meanwhile, Pennsylvania’s newest U.S. Senator, John Fetterman, is preparing to be sworn in as its junior senator. The former Lieutenant Governor, is set to replace outgoing Senator Pat Toomey. Former Attorney General Josh Shapiro is preparing to take the oath of office as the Keystone State’s newest Governor. He will be joined by former legislator Austin Davis, who will become Fetterman’s replacement as Lieutenant Governor.

New York Governor Kathy Hochul was formally inaugurated on Sunday afternoon in Albany. Governor Hochul stepped into the role of Governor in August of 2021, after the resignation of former Governor Andrew Cuomo.
